There are a lot of outstanding people in our word. My favorite painter is Vincent Willem Van Gogh. I think many people already know this name and are familiar with his paintings. And for those who are not familiar with this name,I present you a photo

Some information about Van Gogh
Vincent Willem van Gogh is a Dutch post-impressionist painter whose works had a timeless influence on 20th century painting. In a little over ten years, he has created more than 2,100 works, including about 870 oil paintings. Among them are portraits, self—portraits, landscapes, still lifes and panels depicting olive trees, cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. During his lifetime, he was almost ignored by critics.

Where was this artist born?
Vincent Willem van Gogh was born on 30 March 1853 in Groot-Zundert, in the predominantly Catholic province of North Brabant in the Netherlands. He was the oldest surviving child of Theodorus van Gogh (1822–1885), a minister of the Dutch Reformed Church, and his wife, Anna Cornelia Carbentus (1819–1907). Van Gogh was given the name of his grandfather and of a brother stillborn exactly a year before his birth. Vincent was a common name in the Van Gogh family. The name had been borne by his grandfather, the prominent art dealer Vincent (1789–1874), and a theology graduate at the University of Leiden in 1811. This Vincent had six sons, three of whom became art dealers, and may have been named after his own great-uncle, a sculptor (1729–1802).

Where did Van Gogh study?
In July 1869, Vincent got a job at the Hague branch of the large art and trade firm Goupil & Cie, owned by his uncle Vincent ("Uncle Saint"). There he received the necessary training as a salesman. Initially, the future artist took up the work with great zeal, achieved good results/
In 1876 Vincent returned to England, where he found unpaid work as a teacher at a boarding school in Ramsgate.
Van Gogh turned back to painting, seriously thought about studying and in 1880, with the support of his brother Theo, he left for Brussels, where he began attending classes at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. However, a year later Vincent dropped out of school and returned to his parents.He believed that an artist does not have to have talent at all, the main thing is to work hard, so he continued his studies on his own.

The artis’t famous painting
"Starry Night" is one of the most famous paintings by the Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. It represents a view from the east window of Van Gogh's bedroom in Saint-Remy-de-Provence to the predawn sky and a fictional village. The painting was painted in June 1889; since 1941 it has been kept in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

For 10 years Vincent Van Gogh has created more than 2,100 works — portraits, self—portraits, landscapes and still lifes, 800 of them - oil paintings.
Amazingly, the master could paint a picture in just a few hours.
A crater on Mercury was named after Van Gogh.

The Vincent Van Gogh Museum, which has the world's largest collection of Van Gogh's works, was opened in Amsterdam in 1973

Death of the great painter
Vincent Van Gogh died in 1890 from a shot in the chest. Going out for a walk with materials for drawing, the artist shot himself in the heart area with a revolver bought to scare away birds while working in the open air, but the bullet passed below. After 29 hours, he died from blood loss.
According to Theo (his brother), the artist's last words were: La tristesse durera toujours ("Sadness will last forever"). Vincent van Gogh was buried in Auvers-sur-Oise on July 30. The artist's last journey was accompanied by his brother and a few friends.
