Pathology of abdominal organs

The digestive tract plays a very important part in the life of the body. With its help, we get vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, тcarbohydrates, fiber and useful acids. Some of them serve as building material for cells and provide us with energy.

Typical pathological processes of abdominal organs are pain, heartburn, nausea, vomitus, diarrhoea or constipation, loss of appetite, belching, flatulence.
Main causes include infection by pathogens, sedentary lifestyle, bad habits (smoking, alcohol consumption), improper feeding, stress.

Gastritis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach. Gastritis is typical for pain in the epigastric region, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, belching, dyspeptic disorders.

Pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease of the pancreas, typical for pain on the left side of the abdomen, nausea and vomiting, and vomit may contain bile, belching, flatulence.

Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder, typical for pain on the right side of the abdomen, nausea. Patients have a bitter taste in the mouth, belching of air, and flatulence.

Colitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the large intestine. Patients with colitis complain of diarrhea, blunt abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence, an unpleasant taste in the mouth, weakness, irritability, and rapid fatigue.

Hepatitis is a viral disease of the liver that leads to liver dysfunction. The disease is typical for jaundice, weakness, general feeling unwell,dyspeptic disorders.

Diagnosis is made on the basis of laboratory tests (blood, urine and stool), as well as ultrasound, gastroscopy, colonoscopy.

You can stay fit and healthy if you lead a healthy lifestyle, take up sport, eat more fruits and vegetables and drink up to two liters of water a day.
